Today I embarked on a bit of creativity. It really felt good after having the blahs for so long. I finally put together some of the pieces I had been making the past few months.
The first piece I did was set around the I-Top flower I'd made awhile back that had the picture of some of my stamping sisters in the center. I was inspired to do a bit of a friends/family theme for this one as one of my sisters in art has been down because of family matters. Over the years we've been through a lot with each others lives and I think of all my sisters as family. I don't know where I would be now if it weren't for them. They were there to cheer me up after 2 of my back surgeries as well as my husbands. They've inspired and encouraged me to make art no matter how bad I do. They're just a wonderful bunch of women and I'm so grateful to have met them.
I misted some of the dazzling diamonds glimmer mist over the flower portion of this to try and add some sparkle but it made the green and browns I'd inked on the printed flower look more metallic than glittery. I've always loved the "Obligation" saying and finally used it on something. The heart at the bottom is melted utee that was poured into a heart mold. The charms I used say: "family" and "friends" on the one side and the other has a small heart that says "made with love" and there's also a silver voodoo doll charm because she and I both share a bit of the macabre. When her son was in the hospital and she was having to deal with all the runaround I sent her a voodoo doll kit as part of a care package to ease some of the tension.
The second piece I made was inspired by one of my newest friends, Suzie from itch2stictch. I met Suzie on Facebook and have become quite a fan of her drawings and stitchery. Her sense of humour in hard times is truly remarkable and reminds me that you have to laugh and just find the positive in life.
This one has some 3D to it. When I was layering the heart and crown I had to add some spacers underneath that I hope will hold up. I have this fear of adhesives not sticking and everything coming apart so I tend to over do it sometimes. This time I wasn't able to add more then I did so we'll see. The charms I used are "inspire", "hope", "live now", "think big" and also a small fairy and pink ribbon as she is a breast cancer survivor.I thought these words were perfect.
I have some other pieces muddling around in my head that I need to get out onto canvas so hopefully this is just the beginning of another spurt for me. I thank those of you who actually come to my site and hope you all will remember the wonderful people in your lives and be inspired by them.
